Skip La Spina, Owner

Skip La Spina is the owner and lead stylist at A Cut Above Salon & Spa. He is a hair stylist, platform artist, public speaker, and colorist who specializes in face-shape hair design.

Skip started working in the hair business at the age of 15. At 17, he went to New York and studied with Chadwick and also at Sasoon Salon. He studied in Boston with John Dellario and trained and performed in London twice. While in London, Skip worked with and studied at: Tony and Guy, London Hair Fashion Guild, Glemby International, and Trevor Sorbie.

Skip went on to become a platform artist for Paul Mitchell, starting as Paul’s assistant at hair shows and later moving on to become Paul Mitchell’s number one national show team and platform artist. He has become the national show team for Lamour, Image, and Sexy Hair Concepts and is currently working and performing with Joico International as an educator for cutting and coloring hair. His work has been published and showcased in a variety of fashion magazines throughout the world.

Skip’s training was based on a cutting technique called “Wave-A-Metrics.” This technique consists of cutting hair according to the way it grows or lack thereof. This technique also consists of face-shape hair design, taking in effect the whole person’s lifestyle and stature.

Tues 8:30-5:30, Wed 8:30-7:30, Thurs 8:30-5:30, Fri 8:00-6:30, and Sat 8:00-4:30
